ibrahim maina is a Senior Community Coordinator at KDI in Kenya. Known as the unofficial Mayor of Kibera, he is passionate about including the voice of the community into the development of Nairobi's informal settlements.


As a born and raised resident of Kibera, Ibra joined KDI in 2006 as a volunteer with extensive knowledge of the settlement. He is an expert in conflict management and youth engagement, he guides KDI's project management and community development in Kibera. He is recognized for organizing and engaging in all of KDI's Productive Public Spaces to date.

 

Ibrahim as talked and given presentations extensively to audiences in Nairobi and abroad on issues touching Resilience, Urban Flooding, and Peace and Security. In 2012, Ibra accepted the Swiss International RE-Source Award for Sustainable Watershed Management in Zurich on behalf of KDI.

 

Ibrahim studied Community Development and Project Management at Daystar University in Nairobi.
