Complete Parks: Partnering with Public Health Advocates, KDI is working with residents of Colton and Placentia to identify opportunities for environmental sustainability and how their parks system can be improved to make it safer and better connected. We have also been engaging residents at community workshops to get insight as to what policies and activities these cities can implement to have a complete park system.

Oasis Productive Public Space: In partnership with Desert Recreation District, KDI is currently engaging residents of Oasis in the participatory design process to develop a new Productive Public Space. During this process residents have developed a community narrative, identified community priority needs and how amenities or programmatic solutions on the new site can address these needs, and developed draft sight plans. Our designers are working on finalizing a site plan with the community taking into consideration the input of hundreds of residents.

Delicias Laguna Azul: KDI has been working closely with Delicias Laguna Azul, a Latina led food vending community in North Shore, to build their leadership capacity so that they can sustainably operate their business. Recently, they have learned how to navigate the vending permitting process and have held a series of successful farmer’s markets. .
