Research Associate
Allan is a Research Associate at KDI Kenya. He is keen on improving the lives of people who reside and work in cities, and particularly low-income neighborhoods, through community-based participatory approaches. He is particularly skilled and experienced in participatory approaches to slum upgrading and has been involved in various urban planning/design projects as well as slum upgrading programs. Prior to joining KDI, Allan was actively involved in the preparation of integrated strategic urban development plans (ISUDP) for Kenya Municipal Programs, Cluster II towns (Malindi + Kitui). He also worked as part of the consultant team for the Kenya Informal Settlement Project (KISIP) as an assistant planner, where he was actively engaged in socio-economic surveys, mapping, planning, and design of informal settlements in Nairobi, Mombasa, Embu and Kiambu (Thika). Allan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design and Development from the Technical University of Kenya and is currently pursuing a Master's in Environmental Planning and Management at Kenyatta University.
