Architectural Design Associate
Meremiya is the Architectural Design Associate at KDI Kenya. She is passionate about participatory design that socio-economically uplifts communities living in informal settlements. Meremiya is part of the KDI design team that works in partnership with Kibera communities to develop design solutions for various KDI projects. Prior to joining KDI, she successfully led the research, review and development of the sanitation sector brief for the Mukuru Special Planning Area process, an integrated planning process rooted in collaborative and consultative design. During this project she worked under Sanergy, a social sanitation enterprise based in the Mukuru inform settlement, and in collaboration with15 other affiliates, including Nairobi County. Meremiya holds a BA in Architecture from Anadolu University, a certification in Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation from the University of Jyvaskyla, and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Development from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
