Shance is a Planning Coordinator at KDI’s Los Angeles office. They are driven by a passion to advance equity through connections with members of underrepresented and under-resourced communities. Before joining KDI, Shance worked as an architectural designer in Portland, Maine with a firm specializing in sustainable design. As a student, Shance conducted research on the disproportionate impact of COVID and historically segregative planning processes on communities of color in Vallejo and Los Angeles. Shance holds a master’s degree in the Design of Cities from the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
