Job Decription
KDI is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic
Business Development Intern to join the Business Development team. The position will be based in KDI’s Nairobi office and the internship period will be for six (6) months, with a possibility of extension or employment.
As a business development intern, you will play a key role in identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities for KDI. This is a hands-on position that will give you the chance to work closely with the business development team, learn about the industry, and develop your skills. From researching potential partners to assisting in the negotiation and closing of deals, this role will give you a well-rounded understanding of the business development process. Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze trends in the built environment and KDI’s strategies to identify opportunities to pursue.
- Report relevant findings and get them approved by the company senior management.
- Support the creation and presentation of new ideas to add value to product and increase income for KDI.
- Monitor and analyze donor/industry trends and behavior to develop solutions for stakeholders needs.
- Perform and present competitor analysis to identify areas where KDI can surpass target.
- Identify and evaluate potential donors for possible campaigns.
- Improve donor feedback channels and communications to ensure donors are constantly up to date with relevant information.
- Create ad-hoc reports for the staff as requested.
- Support and research for new suitable business partners to increase the KDI’S network.
- Support with the preparation of grant proposals and donor presentations.
- Support the development team in the negotiation and stewardship of funding relationships.
- Support the preparation of powerful/compelling presentations.
Qualifications
- B.A in social sciences, international development or marketing may be preferred
- Experience in fundraising and proposal/grant writing is beneficial for this role
- Strong negotiation, research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Data entry skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of and experience working with different cultures and underserved communities
- Strong commitment to social justice
