 
    Executive Director and Managing Principal
Vera Bukachi is an accomplished leader in international development, with nearly 20 years of experience across sectors such as climate adaptation, inclusive infrastructure, and urban resilience. A third generation Nairobian, she is currently the Executive Director and Managing Principal at Kounkuey Design Initiative. Prior to that she led the Cities and Resilience portfolio at Arup East Africa. She has previously worked with UN-Habitat, University College London and the UN Environment Programme. Her work spans collaborations with communities, academia, and global organisations, focusing on underserved urban populations in Africa. With a background in civil and environmental engineering, she has lived and worked in Kenya, Uganda, Malaysia, and the UK.
