Briana is a Planning Coordinator at Kounkuey Design Initiative, where she is committed to moving beyond harm reduction in urban planning. She advocates for decolonial, inclusive planning that centers communities of color, fostering authentic, collaborative relationships and ensuring democratic participation. Prior to joining KDI, Briana worked with East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice and Los Angeles Walks. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she draws from her lived experience and formal education to champion both just processes and just outcomes. Briana holds a Master of Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, focusing on Climate, Environment, and Health, and a BA in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of California, Irvine.
