Senior Planning Coordinator
Jorge is a Planning Coordinator at KDI's Los Angeles office. He is passionate about the power of public spaces to promote equity and help communities thrive with dignity. At KDI, Jorge supports the planning team in envisioning and implementing transportation equity projects, playstreets, the activation of vacant lots, anti-displacement proposals, and environmental justice policies. Before joining KDI, Jorge worked as a Communications Associate at the nonprofit Urban Movement Labs. He also wrote the book "Urban Planning in Mexico" with UCLA's professor Paavo Monkkonen. Additionally, Jorge worked in his hometown Mexico City, developing walking, biking, parking, and transit policies at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP). Then, he worked for Mexico City's government, leading the participatory process of the first official road safety program. Jorge earned his Master's degree in Urban Planning from UCLA and a BS in Political Science from the Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM).
